H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Poland, attended the 10th Annual International Conference on the Asia-Pacific Region at the Wroclaw University of Economics, Wroclaw, Lower Silesia Province during 19-20 November 2017. As a special speaker by the invitation of the University, her topic of presentation was, “Opportunities and Challenges: Thailand’s Strategy towards Sustainable Development”, following the theme of this year’s conference, which was “The Development Challenges of Asia-Pacific Countries”. Ambassador Sahussarungsi presented on Thailand’s economic potentials and competitiveness as well as gave a briefing on Thailand’s development plan and prospect, according to 20-year National Strategy which integrates the principle of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) as a basis. She also touched upon the policy of Thailand 4.0 which aims to transform Thai economy toward a value-based economy driven by innovation and the project of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) which is considered an important investment zone in Thailand, to be as an example on how Thailand as a country in Asia-Pacific region deals with the changes and challenges of world economy today, leading a way to a stable and sustainable development.
Besides, Ambassador Sahussarungsi had a chance to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Pawel Hreniak, Governor of the Lower Silesia Province. They discussed and exchanged views on potentials and opportunity for Thailand and Poland to develop bilateral cooperation on trade and investment, education, as well as science and technology. After that, she visited the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone (WSEZ) which is considered the biggest special economic zone in Poland and ranks the 4th place in Europe where automotive parts industry is the main investors. She was welcomed by Mr. Maciej Badora, President of WSEZ, INVEST-PARK Ltd. and got briefed on how to invest in WSEZ and its history, and took a short visit to one of the sub-zones.
