Thailand-Poland Parliamentarians Friendship Group visited Poland on 18-23 April 2017

The Thailand-Poland Parliamentarians Friendship Group, led by H.E. Khunying Songsuda Yodmani, member of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand and Chairperson of the Thailand-Poland Parliamentarians Friendship Group, paid a visit to the Republic of Poland on 18-23 April 2017 by the invitation of the Polish-Thai Senate Group. They are warmly received at the airport by H.E. Mr. Waldemar Kraska, Senator and Chairman of the Polish-Thai Senate Group, who hosted a welcoming dinner for them on 19 April 2017 and also chaired a bilateral meeting between the Friendship Groups of the two countries on the same day. During the visit, the delegation had an opportunity to pay courtesy calls on (1) H.E. Mr. Stanislaw Karczewski, Marshal of the Senate, (2) H.E. Mrs. Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm (3) H.E. Mrs. Joanna Wronecka, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and (4) H.E. Mr. Dawid Lasek, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism. Apart from official calls, H.E. Mr. Adam Bielan, Deputy Marshal of the Senate who is also a member of the Polish-Thai Senate Group, H.E. Mr.  Marek Rocki, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and European Union Affairs and H.E. Mr. Jozef Pilch, Governor of the Malopolska Voivodeship were also the host for lunch in honour of the delegation. During these meetings, the delegation briefed the Polish sides about the current political situation in Thailand and the government’s adherence to the Roadmap for the general election and a more sustainable democracy in Thailand. Among other topics of discussion included the bilateral relation and cooperation which dated back to the royal visit to Europe of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) in 1897 and has continuously grown since the establishment of the Diplomatic Relations in 1972, of which this year marks the 45th Anniversary. Also, both sides exchanged views on ways and opportunities to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields of mutual interest such as economics, trade and investment, agriculture, culture, tourism and education.
