On 6 June 2019, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Poland, attended the 100th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Poland (The 100th anniversary was restored after Poland was able to regain independence and become a country once again in 1918) During the ceremony the monument of Archbishop Achilles Ratti, the first Holy See of Poland (The position is called Apostolic Nuncio to Poland) was unveiled at the Apostolic Nunciature in Warsaw. Pope Benedict XV appointed Archbishop Achilles Ratti to Poland on 6 June 1919 and greatly promoted good relations with Poland.
The ceremony was Chaired by H.E. Mr. Stanislaw Karczewski, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, Substitute of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See (Traveled from Italy) with Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, the current Ambassador of the Holy See to Poland, delivered a welcoming speech and announce the program. After the speech and unveiling of the monument of Archbishop Achilles Ratti, there was a ceremony in the church to celebrate as well. After that there was an award ceremony for the organizations and the people who participated in organizing this celebration.
In addition, the monument of the Archbishop Achilles Ratti was made in Thailand by Thai people and was designed by Italian designers and brought to Poland. In Poland, Ambassador from the Holy See (Apostlic Nuncio) will normally be appointed as a Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. The current Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps have previously served as Apostolic Nuncio in Thailand.
