On 17 May 2025, H.E. Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Ambassador of Thailand to Poland, delivered the opening remarks at Thai Day in Toruń, held at the Centre of Contemporary Art. The event was a joint initiative of the Royal Thai Embassy, the City of Toruń, the Centre of Contemporary Art, Mr. Mario Betancourt Lopez—a long-standing Friend of Thailand—and the Friends of Thailand network in Poland.

Toruń is a cultural city in northern Poland famous for its artistic and cultural heritage.

The programme featured a lecture on Thai art by Professor Joanna Wasilewska, former Director of the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw, along with presentations on Thai culture. Highlights included the Loy Krathong Festival, presented by Mr. Mario Betancourt, and an introduction to the Songkran Festival in Thailand. The event also featured a Muay Thai demonstration by Mr. Rafał Simonides, a Polish Muay Thai World Champion.

Following the lecture, attendees had the opportunity to experience traditional Thai massage and enjoy authentic Thai cuisine provided by a local Thai massage spa and a Thai restaurant in Toruń.

The Royal Thai Embassy extends our heartfelt thanks to the City of Toruń, the Centre of Contemporary Art, Mr. Betancourt, Mr. Simonides, the Friends of Thailand network, and all the local entrepreneurs for contributing to the success of this year’s event.
