On 8 August 2025, H.E. Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Ambassador of Thailand to Poland, in the capacity of Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW), hosted a reception and Thai luncheon to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN, also known as ASEAN Day. The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, as the Guest of Honour. Attendees included Polish MPs who are members of the Polish-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Groups, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, as well as Ambassadors, Chargés d'Affaires and representatives from the embassies of ASEAN member states and ASEAN Dialogue Partners in Poland — namely Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand.

Ambassador Urasa delivered welcome remarks, highlighting ASEAN’s development and achievements over the past 58 years. The Thai Ambassador congratulated Poland on its forthcoming accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), emphasised Thailand’s active role in ASEAN, and highlighted the activities of the ACW to raise the ASEAN visibility in Poland and the close cooperation between ASEAN embassies and the Polish side in the recent years.

The Ambassador of Thailand took this opportunity to clarify and state the facts on the current Thailand-Cambodia border situation, the conflicts of which resulted from Cambodia's unprovoked indiscriminate aggression on Thai civilians and civilian infrastructure. The Ambassador explained Thailand's position and actions in accordance with the human rights principles, the ASEAN Charter, the United Nations Charter and international law, reiterated Thailand’s readiness to engage in peaceful dialogue with Cambodia through existing bilateral mechanisms, as well as informed of the key outcomes of the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) between Thailand and Cambodia that was held during 4-7 August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland and the Chairman of the Poland-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group spoke of the close relations between Poland and ASEAN and the importance Poland has attached to promoting cooperation with ASEAN member states in all aspects. The upcoming plans for high-ranking Polish officials to visit the ASEAN region was also highlighted, reflecting Poland's strong commitment to ASEAN.
