Royal Thai Embassy organize Thai Festival 2017 on 10 September 2017 in Warsaw

On 10 September 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw organized the event “Thai Festival 2017” under the theme “Celebrating 45 Years of the Thai-Polish Diplomatic Relations” at the Vistula River Boulevard, of which Mrs. Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw also kindly accepted to be an honorary patron of this event.

 

The Opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Poland. In her welcoming remarks, she also touched upon the written message from H.E. Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education to congratulate the organization of the Thai Festival this year. Besides, among other guests in the opening ceremony are Mr. Michal Olszewski, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, Ambassadors and members of Diplomatic Corps, and representatives from the governmental agencies and private sectors, as well as the Polish media.

 

The activities included (1) Thai cultural performances by the Sakorn Thai Puppet from Thailand and Thai traditional dance group from Czech Republic, along with Muaythai show from Muaythai Kingdom Gym in Warsaw; (2) booths to sell Thai products and services, namely 6 Thai restaurants, 4 Thai massage salons, 13 Polish companies selling Thai products and services, as well as promotional booths of Royal Thai Embassy, Office of Commercial Affairs and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT); and (3) Demonstration of umbrella painting and Thai cooking for the menus, chicken green curry and Pad Thai, from the famous chefs of Thaisty and Basil & Lime restaurants respectively, where the audience had a chance to taste their cooking as well.

 

The Thai Festival 2017 received high attention and attracted much more Polish visitors than initially expected, with the estimate of 8,000 people in total throughout the day, coming to know more about Thailand and enjoy the touch of Thainess provided in the Festival this year.
