On 15 June 2019, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Poland and Dr. Tanongsak Sahussarungsi, Spouse, attended the 1st Diplomatic Visit to “Secret of Warsaw Zoo” organized by Witold Pilecki Institute of Poland at the Warsaw Zoo to create a network with Ambassadors and diplomats and to raise awareness of the role and history of Poland during the World War 2 especially at this location. The Director of the Warsaw Zoo and his wife Antonina risked their lives and their family during the World War 2 by helping 300 Jewish refugees from Warsaw Ghetto escape from being arrested and killed by providing shelter to hide in the basement of the house (The Villa) and in the animal shelter in the Warsaw Zoo. Pilecki Institute has arranged a visit to the said house “House Under the Crazy Star” along with having a meeting and discussions with Mrs. Teresa Zabinska, daughter of heroes and heroines who have a passion and compassion for human being in the world. The real story of the Zabinska family was inspired and became a book and movie “The Zookeeper’s Wife” that conveyed the heroic deeds of this family. World War 2 had destroyed much of Warsaw and Poland and create a great loss of human lives as a large number of Polish people and Jews were killed.
