Ambassador of Thailand accompanied Chairman of the Election Commission of Thailand to the meetings with the Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ombudsman and the Mayor of Warsaw’s Office

On 23 – 28 October 2015, Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of Thailand, welcomed H.E. Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Chairman of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) and his delegation on their visit to Poland at the invitation of the Polish Government to observe Poland’s general elections on 25 October. The visit underscored the close ties of friendship between Thailand and Poland and Poland’s tangible support for Thailand’s democratic transition and preparation for convening free and fair election under the 3-phase roadmap.

The ECT delegation were able to observe and learn from first hand impressions the conduct of the Polish election at the polling station. They were also able to pay courtesy calls on several senior officials of the Polish Government.

On 26 October, Ambassador accompanied the delegation to a meeting with H.E. Mr. Artur Nowak-Far, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which they were able to exchange views on the outcome of Poland’s general elections and ECT’s preparation for a referendum on the Thai Constitution and subsequent general elections planned under the 3-phase roadmap.

On 28 October, Ambassador and the delegation had a meeting with Prof. Adam Bodnar, Human Rights Defender of Poland, to share experiences on conducting of elections, including facilitating accessibility for elderly and disabled persons to polling stations in the exercise of their voting rights. The Thai side expressed appreciation to the Office of Ombudsman for the close and cordial ties, and invited the Polish side to attend the conference of International Ombudsman Institute in the latter part of 2016 in Bangkok. On the same day, Ambassador and the delegation also met with Mr. Marcin Wojdat, Secretary of the Capital City of Warsaw, to tightening the cooperation between the city of Warsaw and the Royal Thai Embassy.

On this occasion, Ambassador hosted a dinner in honour of the Chairman of Election Commission of Thailand and the delegation at the Royal Thai Residence which was also attended by distinguished guests from the Polish side.
