On 21 June 2015, H.E. Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of Thailand to Poland, presided over the closing ceremony of the Polish Muaythai Championships 2015 at the Education-Recreation Center in Wieliczka organized by the Polish Muaythai Federation. He was joined by the Honorable Mr. Artur Koziol, Mayor of Wielcizka, Dr. Mieczyslaw Bigoszewski, Youth Sport and Olympic Hopes Commission, Mr. Rafal Szlachta, President of the Polish Muaythai Federation, and other members of the Federation. The Championships took place over the weekend during which 150 boxers from across Poland participated in the tournaments of different weight divisions. The Polish Muaythai Federation is an active commission member of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) comprising a membership of over 120 countries. During the event, the Ambassador of Thailand, Dr. Bigoszewski, and Mr. Szlachta expressed their hopes that Muaythai would be listed as one of the Olympic Sports in the near future. The Polish Muaythai Federation will also send a delegation to participate in the Royal World Cup 2015 to be held in Thailand in August this year.
The Ambassador of Thailand also took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Mayor of Wieliczka to learn more about the city’s economic expansion and also held discussion with Dr. Bigoszewski on prospects for strengthening Polish-Thai cooperation in the sport field.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw conveyed its appreciation to the warm hospitality of the Wieliczka City and to the Turowka Hotel & Spa where the Ambassador resided during his stay in Wieliczka.
